The Future Of Water Purification Is Right Here
Challenge
Providing safe drinking water in Mexico sometimes presents unique and difficult challenges. Mexico has different standards for allowable contaminant levels in drinking water than the World Health Organization recommendations, US, Canada, and many other countries. Unlike the US, for example, where you can go to your County or Municipal website and see up-to-date water test results and standards, in Mexico that information is not readily available, or sometimes not there at all. Our harsh weather and sometimes stressed infrastructure provide additional challenges.
Solution
What’s the 1st rule of water treatment? Test the water.
We’ve tested your water for over 100 contaminants. We know exactly what treatment to use. No other company in Baja does this. The objective of our water testing is to obtain quantitative and qualitative information on the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of contaminants in your water. Water sources in BCS vary widely. These test results provide us with the data we need to design the right system, based on your water source, that meets or exceeds US EPA health standards.
With well over a decade of experience testing, tracking, and treating our local water sources, the water sources in your neighborhood are well known to Water Ways Baja. We test and track contaminant levels to stay informed and keep you safe. They are constantly changing, and we are well prepared to accommodate future contaminant levels.
No guesswork. We know what’s in your water.
System Design and Function
Award-winning design team.
Equipped with the data to decide which contaminants need to be at reduced levels, and which ones need to be at non-detect levels, our expert team custom designs systems specifically for your water and your needs. Our world-renowned team holds the highest certifications and awards in the water treatment industry. Our Chief Technology Officer, Chubb Michaud, received the Water Quality Association’s (WQA) Hall of Fame Award. We’re recognized by the WQA’s “Mark of Excellence” program to honor water treatment professionals demonstrating a commitment to quality at the highest level. The program distinguishes WQA member companies that sell certified products and employ certified professionals. Water Ways Baja is one of only two companies in Mexico with the coveted “Mark of Excellence” distinction.
State-of-the-art eco-friendly technology.
We do not do one-size-fits-all or off-the-shelf water systems. We use state-of-the-art water purification and anti-scale technology with only the highest quality components. Our flagship Q Systems do not waste any water, do not use electricity, and they retain the natural minerals in your water.
We meet or exceed both EPA and Mexican health standards. For example, the US EPA standard for allowable arsenic is 0.010 parts per million. The Mexican standard is 0.025 ppm, two and a half times the WHO recommendation. That’s the allowable level in bottled water, garrafones (the big 5-gallon water jugs), and municipal water. Chronic exposure to arsenic is well known to cause serious degenerative health effects over time. Our standard at Water Ways Baja is no detected level of arsenic.
Pre-purification
Protecting purification.
To protect the Purification System, pre-filtering source water is a vital preventive maintenance and cost-saving step. Pre-filtration minimizes the risk of particulates damaging the delicate cartridge elements. Filters with verified efficiency ratings can extend the life of filtration and purification cartridges and reduce replacement costs. Although pre-filters may seem like a commodity compared to the sophisticated purification cartridges, they are some of the most vital filters in the process.
Prior to purification, your system will reduce sediment, impurities, and organic chemicals such as chlorine and disinfectant by-products, trihalomethanes (THM), pesticides, industrial solvents (halogenated hydrocarbons), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). It will reduce odors, generally greatly improve water quality, and trap larger microbiologicals such as cysts and protozoa to extend the life of your purifying cartridge.
Sizing and matching.
Professionally sized and matched pre-purification is essential to the performance of purification cartridges and preventing damage to them. Accurate pre-filtration must be matched with the sediment. If particulate size is underestimated, they’re going to break through, damage, and compromise purification performance.
Verifiable performance.
It may be surprising that there is no widely accepted standard to determine how filter manufacturers measure and report efficiency, for example, the percentage of particles removed by a filter from a challenging water source. However, because of their precise manufacturing processes, the advanced pleated pre-filters we use can be validated for efficiency.
Filters from different manufacturers, all labeled "1 micron," can range from below 20 percent to above 98 percent in efficiency. The labels "nominal" and "absolute" for filters are just as subjective - similar to the claim of "low fat" in food labeling.
The consistent media of recently developed pleated filters permits suppliers to conduct and report test data on a voluntary basis. For example, an absolute-rated filter that claims a capture size of 1 micron will remove 99.98 percent of the particles 1 micron in diameter.
